Anzia colpodes

 

Anzia colpodes – is a small lichen of generally Eastern US distribution. It grows on bark and is fairly uncommon throughout its range. It is characterized by paw-shaped lobes with a black, felty mat of hyphae as the ecorticate undersurface. It is known from 5 Ohio counties, all pre-1945 records.
